Cultural Wednesdays did not get off to a good start. I spent some of the day at the gym and the rest of the day grading tests. So far I have spent about 7 hours grading tests. I don’t get paid for grading tests, nor do I get paid for prep time; I am only paid for the amount of hours I teach, so basically I have been working incredibly long, hard hours for free. I really have a problem with working for free. I think I should get paid for grading the tests because it is actually harder than teaching class. And to make matters worse, 40 tests got lost in the mail. I just got them last night and they are due Monday. Sheesh, I know what I am going to be doing all weekend. Ahhh, life in chic Paris, grading papers all the live long day.
Speaking of mail, guess what finally arrived Wednesday, January 24, 2007. My carte Vitale. 482 days after I applied for it. Talk about fast service! Anyway, now I can go to the doctor, if I am so inclined, and pay very little.
Hopefully next Wednesday will be more entertaining. I am pretty sure I won’t be grading tests.

Lucky you! I get to go to the doctor and pay TOP dollar! Fortunately, I don't go very often. I would love some kind of health insurance, but hubby is self-employed, and the cost is astronomical.
Okay, you've got to get ahold of yourself....you'll be just fine.
yay, a carte vitale, and only 482 days to wait! i'm in agreement with farmgirlcyn... we're self employed and pay out the nose for paltry health care. i'd take the wait if i could go to the dr for free!
When I return to Toronto after a long holiday in India it takes me forever to get settled back into a routine. You seem to be doing a lot better than I do. Bummer about all that grading however...that must take up heaps of time. Glad you got your carte vitale, that must be a huge relief!
We were VERY lucky with getting the carte vitale quickly, got it in about 2 weeks and nearly passed out from the shock of getting it so soon. Sort of makes up for our internet drama. (sort of)
Thanks so much for the comment/info on my blog- I'm looking into what you suggessted!
Here's to a more entertaining wed!~ Yes sometimes the cons of the job really do suck! I've sort of had it with my gig lately.
I do only private lessons I don't have to grade tests but I get very disapointed when my students don't want to learn. Working for free is nasty I do it every day I am a housewife, no promotions, no gift vouchers just work. Not fair! Paris is chic only when you have money I know I am pathetic but you are definitely not boring!
