The Grand Palais is the large building on the left. It has an amazing amount of windows and it is quite beautiful.
However, I did manage to keep my new found tradition of Cultural Wednesday alive by visiting this exhibit. I have to say, I wasn't crazy about it. Displayed are things discovered underwater off the shore Istanbul, so I was initially exciting about learning about the history as well as seeing some of the treasures. Entering was really cool. There was a corridor with huge pictures of the ocean and great oceanic sound effects, but that was the best part. The artifacts were displayed badly and there were about 4 million people crowded around each one. I was stepped on, pushed, ran into and also had my bottom pinched more than I care to think about.

crowded museums make me crabby. what's the point of being there if you can't see anything?
hey - being lazy is a good thing once in a while. I prefer a form of laziness to be cooking or reading or going out and photographing personally...
But then again, I have to stay busy. :)
No plans for a trip. I can't leave until the PR thing is finalized and by that time I expect to be working full time again.
Awww man! Crowds aren't fun. That really detracts from everything! The museum sounded interesting though.
I think it's very French of you to vacation like that! Good for you. The idea of the exhibit is pretty cool; too bad about the crowds, though. My husband and I would love to see the Agricultural Fair at some point but it looked pretty crowded as well.
Me thinks you did exactly the right things!!!
I hate crowded exibits! So - no treasures? Bummer - They had Pomeii here last here and I missed it - nice thing about Paris - if one exibit sucks there is another one around the corner!
I think I'm suffering from culture-withdrawal, I need a museum, other than one of clogs and Breton hats, I need paintings in gilded frames, I need curators in crinkled jackets, I need exhibits and exhibitions and....
I need a trip to Paris!!!
Don't beat yourself up. We all need a bit of "slacker time" every now and then. =o)
I didn't care for the exhibit either. For the money spent they should have limited the number of people permitted in at any given time. It was way too crowded. BUT... it was worth it just to be in the Grand Palais, how cool is that building- Those were some clean windows.
